Jan Armgardt, born in 1947, began his education as an interior designer after his employment at a furniture works. Several traineeships, e.g. with an upholsterer and a basket maker, helped him develop further. In the 1970s he owned a few companies which were specialized in direct sales of ready-for-use furniture. After that he worked for well-known European manufacturers. His frequently awarded designs are partly classical, and partly suitable for expressive interiors. Jan Armgardt works at Schondorf am Ammersee (Germany) and is a member of the teaching staff of Aachen Polytechnic College (Germany).
