New Babylon is a recently renovated building complex that is part of the buildings in the heart of The Hague (NL). Strategically located between the largest park in The Hague (Haagsche Bos) and The Hague Central Station. In September 2019, The Hague Conference Centre opened in New Babylon with 20 flexible meeting rooms and conference rooms, fully furnished and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. With a professional, tailor-made service, The Hague Conference Centre welcomes smaller meetings, networking parties, corporate events and multi-day (international) conferences to the highest level.
Architecture
Casper Schwarz Architects, in close consultation with the business team of The Hague Conference Centre, has designed various foyers, meeting rooms and a bar lounge. The design language is spacious, light and organized in a modern, stylish way. The mix of industrial sideboards and cupboards, diagonal patterned floor tiles and warm tone wooden surfaces create a welcoming and entertaining atmosphere.
According to MVSA Architects, New Babylon is the epitome of a spectacular transformation from a closed and introverted building from the 70s to a modern, 21st-century high-rise. New Babylon is a good example of how residential, commercial and recreational use is integrated into one building.

Furniture
Casala furniture is functional, comfortable and innovative in various areas of The Hague Conference Centre. To gain inspiration, interior architect Casper Schwarz visited the Casala showroom in Design Post Amsterdam. The many options available in style, materials, frames and upholstery were discussed and viewed.
Thomas van der Zee (commercial manager) indicates that the Casala furniture is fully in line with the core values of The Hague Conference Centre: service-oriented, contemporary business, innovative and internationally oriented. In addition, it is important that the chosen furniture evokes a positive emotional response amongst visitors and connects with the building, the spaces, house style and appearance of The Hague Conference Centre. Depending on the function, the furniture must blend into the room or be eye-catching. And we succeeded: “Casala furniture fits the purpose!”
Capsule
Previously, during breaks of conferences and meetings, there were few opportunities to make separate calls, emails or consultations. By placing various Capsule one and two-seaters in the central spaces, this is easily made possible. Many people respond enthusiastically to the innovative Capsules and regularly take a seat.
The meeting and conference rooms are fully furnished to the customer’s needs and the setting is frequently changed. It was a must that the tables were sturdy, lightweight and easily stackable. Additional criteria was for seats that were quick to link and to have a NEN-EN 14703 certification on the linking system. All the meeting furniture also had to exude elegance and comfort.

Lacrosse & Lynx
The conference centre has opted for two versions of Lynx I chairs because of the slim frame, contemporary silhouette and generous seating comfort. One version is a beech chair stained in dark mountain oak with armrests and a black chrome frame, the second version is a Lynx chair with upholstery, wooden armrests and a black chrome frame.
The used Lacrosse tables are easy to fold and are ideal for making configurations of different sizes quickly. Associated transport and hand trucks guarantee easy, quick stacking and moving of large quantities of tables and chairs by just one person.
